The Chapel at Elmtree

London, UK

This private office and events space is not like typical workspaces in London. Follow the journey of this 16-week renovation that sees a Georgian townhouse in Marylebone, featuring a former Russian Orthodox chapel, be converted into modern private offices and event space.

We met Jonny Rosenblatt, Co-founder of Spacemade, to learn more about the undertaking of this project and what the vision is ahead of construction starting on this project. We also meet with Design Manager Maria to get an insight into how the spaces will come together.

It is not everyday you see a workspace with a domed ceiling in it and with many of the features in the chapel being listed, the conversion of the chapel will be a challenging aspect to this project.

Throughout our journey, we go and visit Elmtree, a completed Spacemade location nearby, to get a sense of what the finished space at The Chapel at 32 Welbeck will look like. With all the impressive fixtures and finishes providing lots of inspiration, we revisit the space during the build process to see if Jonny and his team will meet their deadline and how much progress has been made.

Once the project is finishes, we go back to 32 Welbeck to see how the space has been transformed and how much the building has changed from when we last saw it. It was also an opportunity to meet up with Jonny once more to see if they hit their ambitious 16-week target.

Key partners on this project include The Howard de Walden Estate and the main contractor, Whitepaper.
